BOO!!

This year, Jack dressed up as a firefighter and Spence was a monkey. It's the first year that Jack wasn't some type of food (look through the archives for shots as a chili pepper and a hot dog). This year was also the first time that Jack responded to his costume. He loved it! Spencer didn't seem to care one way or the other. :)

In our neighborhood, there are several options for trick-or-treating. The retail stores and restaurants hand out candy. Several of the brownstones on W. 69th St (one block away) put up over the top decorations and hand out candy. Lastly, kids can trick-or-treat in the building. We took Jack to walk around 69th street as well as a couple of stores (you know, the ones that know us - the wine store and the Italian restaurant). Then we met up with a bunch of other kids for trick-or-treating in the building. Jack was younger than most of the kids, but he did his best to keep up. He learned to say "Trick-or-Treat" but didn't  quite understand getting candy. (I think that this is great - the longer he doesn't crave candy, the better). As the kids ran up and down the hall, Jack held on tightly to his fireman's hat with one hand and his trick-or-treat bag with the other. It was too cute.

The look was too good not to include!

Spencer Time

A few recent pictures of Spencer. He is growing like crazy and picking up all sorts of new skills like grabbing toys on the playmat, grabbing blankets or clothes and shoving them in his mouth, and his new favorite pastime, putting his feet in his mouth (with or without socks!).     Learning all the tricks on his first flight. We lucked out and got an extra seat for his carseat (ok, I lucked out, but still...)  Sleepy times with Grandma    Enjoying a new toy!   Such a big boy

Called up

This weekend, the t-ball team was short a few players. Spencer was called up from the practice team to fill in. He was one of the smallest on the field, but played well, even teaming up with Jack for an out!

Growing up

Jack and Spence "graduated" from their respective preschool programs in the last couple of weeks. While the road along the way wasn't always the smoothest, the outcome couldn't be better. At Spencer's 2s club event, the kids demonstrated all the new skills they had learned in the gym. Lots of forward rolls, big jumps on the trampoline, and amazing core strength. The kids then enjoyed their favorite book of the year: mean soup. Afterward each child received an award. Spencer followed Jack's footsteps on this part by refusing to go up to accept the award. Regardless, we were so proud of Spence. He loved having his independence, being involved in a class, making new friends, and just having fun. Next year Spence starts preschool at the Y. Jack's tender care graduation was last friday. The event was held in the Little Theater at the Y. Jack was so excited to be on the stage. The class sang several songs ending with what has to be the anthem of kids 3...
