Loyalty

Jack went to Carson's, one of his good friends, birthday party this weekend. Another good friend, Jake was there too. The party was held at Chelsea Piers - on the first day that the facility reopened following Hurricane Sandy. The place was awesome - great gym and lots of room. The kids had a blast.

The party was construction themed with toy trucks decorating the table where the kids ate pizza and had cake. All the kids were particularly keen to play with one of the toys, a digger. Towards the end of the party, Jack's friend Jake had it. A little boy, who was slightly older than Jake, was across the table demanding the toy. Jake stared at him blankly refusing to give him the toy regardless of his pleas (this same boy had been unwilling to share with Jake earlier.). After a few minutes, Jack calmly asked for the toy. Jake looked at him, and easily slid it over to Jack.

Could not have been more calculated! Jake's mom and I had to walk away it was so funny.

Spencer Time

A few recent pictures of Spencer. He is growing like crazy and picking up all sorts of new skills like grabbing toys on the playmat, grabbing blankets or clothes and shoving them in his mouth, and his new favorite pastime, putting his feet in his mouth (with or without socks!).     Learning all the tricks on his first flight. We lucked out and got an extra seat for his carseat (ok, I lucked out, but still...)  Sleepy times with Grandma    Enjoying a new toy!   Such a big boy

Called up

This weekend, the t-ball team was short a few players. Spencer was called up from the practice team to fill in. He was one of the smallest on the field, but played well, even teaming up with Jack for an out!

Growing up

Jack and Spence "graduated" from their respective preschool programs in the last couple of weeks. While the road along the way wasn't always the smoothest, the outcome couldn't be better. At Spencer's 2s club event, the kids demonstrated all the new skills they had learned in the gym. Lots of forward rolls, big jumps on the trampoline, and amazing core strength. The kids then enjoyed their favorite book of the year: mean soup. Afterward each child received an award. Spencer followed Jack's footsteps on this part by refusing to go up to accept the award. Regardless, we were so proud of Spence. He loved having his independence, being involved in a class, making new friends, and just having fun. Next year Spence starts preschool at the Y. Jack's tender care graduation was last friday. The event was held in the Little Theater at the Y. Jack was so excited to be on the stage. The class sang several songs ending with what has to be the anthem of kids 3...
