For it's 1, 2, 3...

This year for Father's Day, Justin took Jack to his first major league game. They went to Citi Field to see the Mets play the Cubs. Jack's best friend Jake and Jake's dad Dan joined them.

There are a couple of options for getting to Citi Field: the 7 or LIRR. The guys decided on the 7 and Jake and Jack were probably more excited about riding the train to the stadium than the game itself. The 7 starts below ground at Times Square and after crossing the east River, is above ground all the way out to the stadium. Apparently the boys chatted about the train, all the stops, and what they saw along the way the entire ride. Dan described them as being like two old men bickering about which route to take.

The stadium and their awesome seats were almost a disappointment (though I think Justin and Dan appreciated them) after the train. Regardless, they made the most of it - eating hot dogs, wearing baseball caps, roaming around the field, and eating Cracker Jacks.

Jack and Jake made it through the seventh inning before starting to wear out. This was about 2-3 innings longer than we expected! All in all, it was a great time!

ready to go (sporting our NY team's hat!)

ps: next year, Justin will be able to take both boys and I will head to the spa! ;)

School Projects

Jack has a school project due this Friday. The project is to visit a specific historic landmark in the city and then put together a write-up about the visit and place. Jack's location is Hamilton Grange which was the country home of Alexander Hamilton. We visited a few weeks ago (yep, we've have the assignment this long). Finally, Jack started putting together the project today. OMG, it was like watching me from 30 years ago. There was denial and defensiveness, then came tears and finally he produced really good work. If this is what the next 15 years are going to be like, we are in trouble. Also - sorry Mom, I know I tortured you with this experience many many times.
