Christmas Trees

Given the number of very dry pine trees on the curb, many New Yorkers wait a long time to take down their Christmas decorations. The plus side of this procrastination is that the streets of New York have had a lovely pine scent for the last couple of weeks...too bad it doesn't stick around until summer and all those lovely "aromas".

School Projects

Jack has a school project due this Friday. The project is to visit a specific historic landmark in the city and then put together a write-up about the visit and place. Jack's location is Hamilton Grange which was the country home of Alexander Hamilton. We visited a few weeks ago (yep, we've have the assignment this long). Finally, Jack started putting together the project today. OMG, it was like watching me from 30 years ago. There was denial and defensiveness, then came tears and finally he produced really good work. If this is what the next 15 years are going to be like, we are in trouble. Also - sorry Mom, I know I tortured you with this experience many many times.
