Big Apple Circus

In November, I had the pleasure of joining Spencer with his preschool for the Big Apple Circus.

For those folks not in NYC (which is probably almost everyone reading this), the Big Apple Circus has become something of an institution for the under 10 set in Manhattan. Or perhaps the parents of the under 10 set.

The circus is held under a real tent at Lincoln Center. The tent is nice, but it's actually a tent and it's set up each fall for a couple of months. In fact, one of the tents may be the same one used for NYC fashion week.

The show is very cute - catering perfectly to the audience: there are contortionists, all sorts of jugglers, dogs that do tricks, magicians with various slight of hand tricks, trapeze artists, and various other animals.

We sat next to Spencer's friend Nicholas. The two of them shared a tub of popcorn that they probably could have sat in. All in all, everyone had fun.

Spencer Time

A few recent pictures of Spencer. He is growing like crazy and picking up all sorts of new skills like grabbing toys on the playmat, grabbing blankets or clothes and shoving them in his mouth, and his new favorite pastime, putting his feet in his mouth (with or without socks!).     Learning all the tricks on his first flight. We lucked out and got an extra seat for his carseat (ok, I lucked out, but still...)  Sleepy times with Grandma    Enjoying a new toy!   Such a big boy

Called up

This weekend, the t-ball team was short a few players. Spencer was called up from the practice team to fill in. He was one of the smallest on the field, but played well, even teaming up with Jack for an out!

Growing up

Jack and Spence "graduated" from their respective preschool programs in the last couple of weeks. While the road along the way wasn't always the smoothest, the outcome couldn't be better. At Spencer's 2s club event, the kids demonstrated all the new skills they had learned in the gym. Lots of forward rolls, big jumps on the trampoline, and amazing core strength. The kids then enjoyed their favorite book of the year: mean soup. Afterward each child received an award. Spencer followed Jack's footsteps on this part by refusing to go up to accept the award. Regardless, we were so proud of Spence. He loved having his independence, being involved in a class, making new friends, and just having fun. Next year Spence starts preschool at the Y. Jack's tender care graduation was last friday. The event was held in the Little Theater at the Y. Jack was so excited to be on the stage. The class sang several songs ending with what has to be the anthem of kids 3...
