First Night

Last night was the first night that I spent away from Jack. Previously, the longest I had been apart from him was 4 or 5 hours, so this was going to be interesting. Justin and I had a night to ourselves as a gift from my mom. We stayed at the Proximity Hotel in Greensboro. The hotel is relatively new and a very neat place. It was designed and built to be very green, yet very stylish. Our room was very comfortable. The ceilings were at least 15 feet high and we had two walls of floor to ceiling windows. If you're ever in Greensboro, I recommend checking this place out. We did pretty well for our night away - only calling my mom once to check on Jack. The big win is that we got 10 hours of uninterrupted sleep! Heaven!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Our first family Christmas! Jack has no idea what's going on, but he loves the lights on the tree and he likes his gifts a lot.

Shear Joy!

Jack's expressions are so honest and pure. It's great to know that he isn't holding anything back.

New Development!

Jack finally rolled over from his tummy to his back today! I've been trying to convince him that he can do this for over a week. All it took was Justin dangling one of Jack's toys over his head and bam! Jack rolls right over! Hopefully tummy time won't be so frustrating now. :)

Sleep - or the lack thereof

There are about a million books on how to get your baby to sleep well and ideally through the night. I've read most of these (ok, I've read 3-4, but that's still a lot for one subject). I understand the importance of Jack's getting good sleep now. I've tried to make this a priority. Over the last 7-10 days, Jack has given us a run for our money regarding sleep. Let me explain. Just after Thanksgiving, Justin and I decided that it was time for Jack to drop the 2 am feeding. I started a bit of cry-it-out. Surprisingly, it went well. Jack cried for 20-25 minutes, then settled himself and went back to sleep. I was able to skip not just the 2 am, but also the 5 am a couple of nights. On average, he was sleeping from 10-5 which was a big improvement. Well, last week, Jack decided to change things up. First, he started fighting going to bed at night - something that had previously not been an issue. Then, he started waking up every 1.5-2 hours. I tried the cry-it-out t

Toes toes

Jack has been working on reverse crunches - enough to make even Jane Fonda proud (the Jane Fonda from the 80s, not Monster-in-law). At first, they were just new, interesting play toys. Last week, they became the newest soother. He can get his big toe in his mouth - mainly when he's diaperless. Now, if he can keep this trick up, he'll surely be a hit a college parties! The amazing toys Now, the amazing soothers!

Four Months

Jack turned four months old this Saturday. He had his four month check-in this morning. He's growing and developing well. The biggest shock is that he's 27 inches in length. He's grown 6 inches since he was born - that's a lot of work. You'd think he'd nap better. :) Current Measurements Weight: 15 lbs, 2 oz Length: 27 inches Head Circumference: 44 cm His weight is 50th percentile and length is 97th. We have a tall, solid little man. During the check-up, Dr. Senkler held him while he stood. I had to get a shot because he was just precious.

Santa

Mom, Jack, and I had lunch at the highland bakery this afternoon. There were two special diners there: Santa and Mrs. Claus. As Santa was leaving, he stopped to say hi to Jack. I think that Jack was in awe. We also learned that Santa prefers Columbia fleece jackets when he's not dressed for the sleigh ride!!
