Jack & Spencer's World

Spencer was inspired by tonight's full moon.

Justin and I had the luxury of spending a few days in Miami...by ourselves! It was amazing. We slept until 8:30 am, worked out (ok Justin mainly did this), ate in restaurants after 6 pm (every night!), sat by the pool, enjoyed a few bloody marys and vodka tonics, AND I even read two - count them - two books! Quick highlights: Our hotel had three pools - each different depths and different temperatures. Lounging around the pool was so relaxing. Yardbird - funny name, amazing, southern food. The.best.chicken.biscuits.ever. I mean ever. Michy's - more so because Philipp and Natasha joined us - we hadn't seen them since our fantastic trip to Lisbon (pre-kids!) (Michy's was unassuming and great too) Bloody Marys - I probably shouldn't include this - but they were really good, the spicier the better!! Jack had a fantastic Superhero third birthday party. We had originally planned to be outside in a park near a playground. But Mother Nature had other ideas, bringing heavy rains the night before, leaving any park a muddy mess. We quickly adjusted - bringing the party inside. Inside had a few bonuses: a table to put the food on, air conditioning, and I was able to use more of the Superhero theme printables I purchased. Lots of friends attended and everyone seemed to have a great time. At one point, I went into Jack's room and literally every toy stored in that room was on the ground! You couldn't even see the carpet. So everyone found something to play with and almost everyone had a turn at the kitchen. Justin's colleague Amy made the cupcakes - Vanilla funfetti and Chocolate Marshmellow. Both had brightly colored icing to match the superhero theme. They were delicious - everyone was wearing yellow, red, or blue icing at the end of the party. Goody bags for friends

Can you believe it?!?! Jack is 3 years old today! Last year, he really loved his party and eating cake. This year, he's been looking forward to his birthday for months - frequently claiming that each day was his birthday. Well, today, Jack-a-bear, you're right! Jack seemed to have a great day. he opened gifts...and then had to fight them out of Spencer's strong grip. we went swimming and he "jumped" in the pool (he slid off the side into my arms, but this is progress for our cautious little man) he had two breakfasts - his favorite: eggo waffles and then a bagel with cream cheese he helped me pick out veggies at the green market took a great nap! picked out a cupcake from crumbs had a yummy dinner at Bella Giardino and then the best birthday present of all...had Spencer poop in the tub they were sharing...
