One step forward, two steps back?

A few weeks ago, I posted that we had moved Spencer into the toddler bed. All was well...until this weekend. Maybe it was a combination of timing, personality, or perhaps the antibiotics - but he would.not.stay.in.bed. So, out with the new and in with the old. We replaced the toddler bed with the crib and all has been quiet again. Maybe when he's 16 he'll get a big boy bed - for now, we'll take sleep.

Big Fish

In the last few weeks, Jack has really turned the corner with swimming. Earlier this year, he was very hesitant in the water. He took a while to get in, was very afraid of going under and didn't want to swim by himself. Since our trip to Connecticut, where he swam with Olivia and Andrew and since starting camp, where he has swim lessons twice a week, he's practically a fish. He jumps in (someone still needs to be there to catch him, but this is much much better than essentially pulling him off the side), he swims on his own using a noodle, and he puts his face in the water. It's amazing what he learns when he's not around us! ;) Now to work on Spencer.... Video of jumping in the pool at the gym:

Summer fun

We have been a busy bunch the last few weeks. And having lots of fun along the way. First, we visited our good friends Jonathon, Andrea, Andrew, and Olivia in Connecticut. We spent a beautiful Saturday hanging around their pool catching up. Olivia and Andrew we great with the boys (even though the boys are significantly younger and Jack insisted on calling Andrew, "Connor"). Both boys were a bit hesitant with the water. We found Spencer's spot when we put him on a float. He sat there floating around the pool for over an hour as happy as could be. Jack jumped in an innertube and then kicked his way around the pool. We had a great time and were sad to leave. The next week was the Fourth of July. Justin started the day with a run. Then we all headed out to the playground for some fun in the sprinklers. That evening, we went out to the West Side Highway to watch the fireworks. Jack loved them. Spencer wasn't so sure. He held on tight to me, but also watched e

For it's 1, 2, 3...

This year for Father's Day, Justin took Jack to his first major league game. They went to Citi Field to see the Mets play the Cubs. Jack's best friend Jake and Jake's dad Dan joined them. There are a couple of options for getting to Citi Field: the 7 or LIRR. The guys decided on the 7 and Jake and Jack were probably more excited about riding the train to the stadium than the game itself. The 7 starts below ground at Times Square and after crossing the east River, is above ground all the way out to the stadium. Apparently the boys chatted about the train, all the stops, and what they saw along the way the entire ride. Dan described them as being like two old men bickering about which route to take.  The stadium and their awesome seats were almost a disappointment (though I think Justin and Dan appreciated them) after the train. Regardless, they made the most of it - eating hot dogs, wearing baseball caps, roaming around the field, and eating Cracker Jacks. Jack
